this may not be a color you’re used to seeing in your smoothie bowls, but this recipe might change that. activated charcoal gives us that black color while also supporting toxin removal from the body. blend it up with some fruit, nut butter, and a little liquid, and you have a breakfast as dark as your soul.
1 frozen banana
1/2 C frozen blueberries
1 T flaxseed
1 scoop vegan protein powder (i like to use about 2 T of Sacha Inchi)
2 t activated charcoal powder (i used this lemonade mix from Four Sigmatic!)
2 T almond butter
sprinkle of cinnamon
splash of almond milk
blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender until smooth and creamy. you may have to scrape down the sides or add more liquid as you go if your blender needs help.
pour into bowl and add toppings! i just added edible stars for the picture, but more nut butter, berries, or my dark chocolate chip granola would go great for some added crunch.
